The Farm
The Penati Farm
The Penati Farm roots its history in a Lombard farmhouse with a closed courtyard located in the historic center of Basiglio (MI), whose oldest buildings date back to the 17th century. On 100 hectares of land in the plain between the Po and Ticino rivers, within the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, the company has been cultivating high-quality rice for generations, in the “fine” and “superfine” categories. The soils, enriched over the centuries by river sediments, are home to microorganisms beneficial to rice cultivation, further favored by the presence of an ancient fountain: a natural spring that guarantees fresh water with unique characteristics. The company adheres to the agri-environmental programs of the Lombardy Region's rural development plan, is equipped with a photovoltaic system for electricity supply and operates with a Food Self-Control Manual Certificate.

Sale of rice

The varieties available are Carnaroli, Carnaroli semi-wholemeal and Arborio, vacuum-packed in 1 kg bags to preserve their integrity and flavor. The farmhouse store is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 14.00; in the afternoons and on the weekend the visit is available by telephone agreement. Personalized gift boxes are available for any occasion, with the possibility of shipping throughout Italy.
Carnaroli rice
Carnaroli rice belongs to the superfine category and represents one of the highest quality levels of Italian rice production. It was born at the intersection between Vialone and Lencino, built in 1945, and owes its commercial rebirth to a Lomellina farmer who enhanced its characteristics in the mid-eighties.
The bean, particularly rich in amylose, maintains an optimal consistency during cooking without overcooking, making it ideal for traditional Lombard risottos but also suitable for winter soups and rice salads. A guaranteed quality result even in the hands of less experienced cooks. Cultivated in Basiglio (MI) by Azienda Agricola Penati, it is offered in vacuum packs of 1 kg and in versions for anniversaries on request.
